Our challenge is to develop innovative on-board systems allowing pilot to minimize noise annoyance during rotorcraft approaches and departures. In particular, the MANOEUVRES project delivered a novel system for online noise monitoring based on in-flight rotor blade flapping measurements, a suitable acoustic database computed offline, and a number of online estimates based on the processing of flight parameters available on the avionic databus.

Among the main outcomes of the project, the following novel equipment stands up:  a novel rotor flapping measurement system, installed on-board an actual helicopter and tested in flight, and a Pilot Acoustic Indicator (PAI) which provides the pilot with noise monitoring information based on flapping measures.
